TEMPORARILY DOWN

I am still working strong on reaching 100% on all Kinect titles. Unfortunately, I won't be able to update my progress to this site for a while. My laptop got fried and am without a computer at the moment. I do have a smartphone with internet that I use for messaging and checking my e-mails, but it is too much of a hassle to update a blog on a slide out keypad. Thanks for reading, and I hope to get my computer situation fixed soon.

GAME COMPLETED #18: FANTASTIC PETS with DLC

Fantastic Pets is a virtual pet game similar to Kinect launch title, Kinectimals. The game allows you to play, wash, groom, train and customize your pets. Pets range from real animals such as cats, dogs, horses and lizards, to fantastic pets such as dragons, unicorns and flying felines.

GAME: Fantastic Pets (with DLC)

REVIEW SCORE: 5/10

This game will always stand in the shadow of Kinectimals in the Kinect virtual pet department. However, even though Fantastic Pets doesn't have quite the production value as Kinectimals, it does include several features and activities that make it a fun game in it's own rights.

The game offers a larger variety of pets than Kinectimals (which only has different breeds of exotic cats). Fantastic Pets lets you choose from cats, dogs, lizards and horses. Not only that, but it offers unique customization that allows the player to add wings, tails, horns and other outrageous enhancements.

Each day, you can enter your pet into the Talent show and win medals and gems. The medals allow you to level up your trainer rank to earn achievements. The gems are used to unlock different mini-games and other add-ons.

The downside however is that it almost requires you to play consistently day to day in order to progress, although the entertainment value of the game will wane long before you are finished. Since talent shows can only be completed once per day, you will have to return several times a week if you plan on mastering your Trainer Ranks. Also, some of the achievements and awards in the game require you to play upwards of 14 days consecutively.

FITNESS SCORE: 3/10

Most of the activity in the game revolves around hand motions such as brushing your pet, throwing a ball or swinging your arms around to interact with virtual pinatas (you read that right).

There are a couple of activities that require you to run in place or move from side to side, but game difficulty (or lack thereof) or the minimal requirements demanded by the game don't allow for that strenuous of a gaming session.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

- If you cannot play the game consecutively in order to earn certain achievements or in-game awards, you can always go to your Xbox console settings and change the date and time in order to trick the game into letting you continue progress. If you are connected to the internet however, you will have to unplug your connection. Otherwise, Xbox Live will auto correct your date.

- Once you have purchased everything in the game (mini-games and Atlas locations), you should be able to purchase any missing in-game awards at 1000 gems a piece. You simply view your award collection and select an award you have yet to achieve. If you have met the proper requirements, there should be an option to purchase the award. This will help you get the final collection achievement, as winning the Bubble Dodge game without getting hit is nearly impossible.

GAME COMPLETED #17: KUNG FU PANDA 2

Kung Fu Panda 2 for Kinect is based on the film of the same name. Kinect allows you to control Po, the kung fu panda, throughout many adventures and minigames.

GAME: Kung Fu Panda 2

REVIEW SCORE: 6/10

One major downfall to this game is lack of time it takes to complete. The game offers a Story mode campaign, but don't expect to spend more than two hours on it before the game is finished.

Fortunately, the game is packed with various mini-games. This is where the real fun can be found. There is a target aiming game that may very well offer the best use of aiming that the Kinect has ever offered. There is even a Noodle minigame where you have to prepare noodles and serve them to hungry customers. For you older gamers, the gameplay is similar to the classic game 'Diner Dash'.

In fact, almost all the minigames focus heavily on scoring and combos to give them a feel of classic arcade gaming.

The sounds and voices are well done, even if they couldn't get the original voice cast to support this title. You won't find the talents of Jack Black or Jackie Chan, but James Hong does reprise his role of Mr. Ping. (For those who don't know of James Hong, he deserved an Oscar for his role as Lo Pan in "Big Trouble in Little China".

Fitness Score: 4/10

Like many Kinect titles aimed at younger audiences, the gameplay is focused more on energetic styles that require a decent bit of movement. The Noodle minigame oddly requires to most vigorous use of motion controls. The activity offered by this title does not really require any strenuous workouts, but keeps you constantly moving to the point where you may break a sweat.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

-If you are going for full gamerscore, you should play through the Story mode first. This will unlock the minigames required for a large percentage of the achievements.

-There is really no need to focus on the achievements for collecting steel, iron or gold. If you play through all the minigames and try to earn Gold medals, you should have collected enough by the end of the game to earn all of these.

-For the achievements oriented around defeating X number of enemies, I highly suggest playing through the Story mode first, and then going for Gold medals on all minigames. By this time, if you are missing any of the enemy defeating achievements, you can replay the various Arena minigames to finish them off.

GAME COMPLETED #16: CARNIVAL GAMES: MONKEY SEE MONKEY DO with DLC

Carnival Games: MSMD is a collection of carnival style games that can be played in your own home. This series was made popular on the Nintendo Wii with its motion style gaming.

GAME: Carnival Games: Monkey See Monkey Do (with DLC)

REVIEW SCORE: 5/10

The most important factor in this game is that is pretty fun. There are several carnival style game that you might have played in real life growing up, and now you can relive them in your own living room. Games include Balloon darts, lucky wheel spin, skee ball, basket ball shoot, home run derby, and many, many more.

If the initial games aren't enough, the game offers a couple of DLC packs with additional game variants.

The Kinect sensor didn't seem to give me much trouble, but some of the different game variants seem to be somewhat luck based (as real carnival games would be), which can be frustrating in some instances.

There are some downsides as well. The Carnival guy and his pet monkey keep you constantly annoyed with puns and constant hijinks that become distracting from the gameplay. Also, there are handful of games that aren't very fun that bring down the overall quality for this title.

FITNESS SCORE: 2/10

Most games in this compilation require little physical activity. Mostly just gestures such as throwing your arms, leaning your body side to side, and other slight motions.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

-The fastest way to collect tickets is to play the "Spin the Wheel" game. Although it costs 25 tickets to play, it has the highest potential payout. In addition, if you spin on one of the 'skulls' and lose the round, you can press the Guide button on your xbox controller to pause the game. From here, you can unpause, and choose to restart the match. You will not lose any tickets this way.

-In order to win all prizes in the game, you must purchase all prizes from the stores as well as score high enough on each minigame to unlock a special prize. Once you unlock the special prizes from each minigame, you can earn 25 tickets by repeating the high score.

-If you buy the Barker items from the Barker store, each one will unlock an avatar item as well.

GAME COMPLETED #15: BRUNSWICK PRO BOWLING

Brunswick Bowling is realistic style bowling game for the Kinect. From the physics of the ball to the official Brunswick accessories and the quirky scoreboard animations, the game offers an authentic bowling experience.

GAME: Brunswick Pro Bowling

REVIEW SCORE: 4/10

The biggest issue with the game is repetition. The game tries to add various modes and game styles to promote the play value, but what you are really getting are slight variations of the same thing. The only interesting game mode is called "Spares" where you are challenged with splits and other difficult set ups and challenged to complete the spare.

By winning events and leagues, you earn cash to spend at the Brunswick Pro Shop. Here, you can update your look and upgrade your stats via shirts, shoes, writs guards and bowling balls.

FITNESS SCORE: 1/10

As you may imagine, the only activity taking place here is the repeated motion of swinging your are back and forth. At least in real bowling weight of the ball adds to strain.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

- Since each frame is pretty much identical to any other, you can actually set yourself up to throw strikes almost every time by learning where to stand and how to throw. I would stand just slightly to the left and throw my hand (righty) straight up. I was able to bowl a 300 in this title after perfecting my motions.

- In the shop, you can view each locked item to find out how to unlock it. This will help you figure out which modes and approaches are needed to unlock the various achievements associated with purchasing various accessories.

- When playing in tournaments or leagues, you can quit out of the match if it looks like you are going to lose. This is useful if you are trying to earn various achievements or unlock progress by finishing high during certain matches.

GAME COMPLETED #14: YOUR SHAPE: FITNESS EVOLVED WITH DLC

Your Shape: Fitness Evolved is an exercise and fitness game presented by UbiSoft. It focuses heavily on following on screen prompts as well as audio cues to help lead you through fitness routines.

GAME: Your Shape: Fitness Evolved (With DLC)

REVIEW SCORE: 8/10

One of the most intriguing things about this game is the user interface. Instead of the floating hand cursors that are utilized in most Kinect titles, Your Shape: FE uses a projected image of yourself that acts as the controller. You can use your feet to select panels on the ground that activate certain actions. You also use your hands to choose menu options. Your projected image also allows for more accuracy during exercises than you may get while using a cartoony avatar as other Kinect games offer.

In addition to the fitness classes offered by this title, there are various gym games that offers extra fun. Gym games include block punching, light stepping, block balancing, and hula hoops.

The game offers several DLC packs, a few of which add additional achievements to the game (1 DLC is free!). The DLC classes add extra variety to the already existing exercises.

Fitness Score: 10/10

It is no surprise that this title receives a high fitness score, seeing as the game is a fitness oriented title. The game allows varying degrees of activity based on your fitness level. Just remember to stretch before playing and take breaks as needed.

Tips and Tricks:

-Although I don't recommend it, you can change your weight in-game to help increase calorie burning efficiency (for achievements). The higher the weight, the faster the calories are burned.

-Visit Yourshapecenter.com to view your progress as well as unlock certain achievements.

- The DLC exercises count towards your calorie count. So, if you are going for the full gamerscore for this title, it would benefit you to play all DLC programs so you can accumulate calories to work towards your calorie milestone achievements.

GAME COMPLETED #10-13: KINECT FUN LABS

Kinect Fun Labs is a newly added dashboard app that offers Kinect controlled "Gadgets" that you download. So far, all of the gadgets are free. I was surprised to see that they offered gamerscore. At only 50G a game, they are an oddity among the general gamerscore guidelines.

Since these games are more of apps than games, I am just going to lump them together with a little info on each.

GAME: Kinect Me

This gadget uses the Kinect sensor to scan your head and body to create an avatar that resembles you. It is a very interesting concept and presents promise to future Kinect applications and software. Add backgrounds and a voice recording and send it to all of your friends via Kinectshare.

GAME: Googly Eyes

This gadget allows you to scan an item (virtually any item that fits in the scan box) and makes a virtual rendering of the object onto your screen. What next? What else, throw some googly eyes on that bad boy and we have ourselves a party. Plus, there is a very catchy theme song!

GAME: Build A Buddy

This gadget is probably the most interesting of the bunch. It uses the same scan technology as the other gadgets, but does an outstanding job of producing 3D renderings of your scanned objects. The goal of this gadget is to scan a "buddy" (preferably a stuffed animal) and then use in-game options to give your buddy personality and and a voice (using a robotized voice of you, the player).

GAME: Bobble Head

This is a very simple gadget in which you model your mug for a bobble head. Simply scan your face, choose from the different costumes and customizations and BAM!, virtual bobble head of you!

GAME COMPLETED #9: SONIC FREE RIDERS

Sonic Free Riders is a racing style game that uses boards and bikes to compete with various characters of the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. Despite many horrible reviews I have seen on this title, I was pleasantly surprised.

GAME: Sonic Free Riders

REVIEW SCORE: 7/10

The biggest beef that most people seem to have with Sonic Free Riders is the controls. Granted, the menu system could have easily been presented in a different, more friendly interface, I still did not have all that many problems with it.

As long as you play the tutorial stages and have a proper Kinect setup, you should have no problems playing Sonic Free Riders.

The game offers many different play variants including race, battle, coin collector, time trials, and more. There are even a couple of co-op modes available (local co-op only).

One downside to the game is the repetitiveness. The game offers 16 stages, but it is really just 8 stages with two stage variants. You then play the different modes across these levels.

There is a Grand Prix mode that offers a story line, but it doesn't really offer anything intriguing. It is a nice way to dabble with many of the different game play variants and unlock new characters.

FITNESS SCORE: 3/10

Unlike other Kinect titles, there is very little moving involved with this title. The board and bike mechanics require mostly leaning and ducking. Almost all of the activity involved comes from the jumping. If you get really enthusiastic, you can add 360 spins to your jumps for added points in the game.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

-Play through Grand Prix mode first. This will unlock new modes, which will unlock new characters.

-For the gear and gear part collector achievements, you should go for the gear part collector one first. Once you purchase the last gear part and see the achievement unlock, turn off your xbox or use the guide button to exit to the dashboard. This will let you keep the achievement as well as all the coins you spent in the store (you will likely never use most of the gear parts offered).

-In addition to the achievements, there are a few Xbox Awards you can unlock for this game. Place 1st on every course with Sonic, place 1st on every course with Jet, place first on every course with E-10000, and watch the credits (beat the final section of Grand Prix mode).

PROGRESS UPDATE

Alright, after a couple of shaky months were I have been neglecting my Kinect, I am back on board.

To help re-spark my passion for 100% Kinect, I sent back a couple of the games that I had out from Gamefly (Dance Paradise, which I was greatly disappointed, and Kinect Joy Ride, which I enjoyed but couldn't find the time or energy to finish at this point).

In their place I got two new titles, Body and Brain Connection and Sonic Free Riders.

I have had tons of fun with B and B Connection and have almost finished it. I just have some co-op stuff to do and the time sensitive achievements (which I will legitimately wait out). I highly recommend this title.

The other game, Sonic Free Riders, was a bit of a surprise. I have heard nothing but horror stories about the game and its Kinect controls. However, I have been playing an hour or so into it and I am having little to no issues.
It may be due to my superior Kinect placement and setup, or just do to the fact that I have much more experience with the Kinect device and I am able to readily adjust to the game.

I also purchased Michael Jackson: The Experience when it launched on April 12th. Concerning my previous post about the leaderboard achievement, it is in fact a local leaderboard issue.

MJ: The Experience is a pretty fun dance game that resembles Dance Central in gameplay, and Dance Masters in presentation. I have had fun with it thus far.

It seems that I won't have the game completed until September at the earliest as there is an achievement for playing the game on MJ's birthday. Yes, I could disconnect from Live and change my console settings to get it early, but for the sake of sportsmanship, I will decline.

That about sums up this month in Kinect progress. Until next time....

PROGRESS UPDATE

It has been a while since the last update, mostly because I haven't had much to update. I have played my Kinect very little over the last few weeks. This is due to a few reasons.

First, there was a bit unanticipated activity on my Gamefly account. I have the 3 disc plan, but I was sent 4 games. Of these four, I got Dead Rising 2, which was at the bottom of my queue, and Marvel vs Capcom 3, which I didn't think would get shipped as early as it did. Naturally I wanted to play MvC3 as it had just came out, and Dead Rising 2 soon beckoned to me as well.

Outside of gaming, I have had a busy few weeks at work. I am no longer a security guard (budget issues), but I did move into a customer service department and have since been promoted three times (at this rate, I will own the place by the end of Summer, lol). So I naturally been pretty preoccupied with that.

The little that I have been playing on Kinect has been on Kinect Joy Ride. I am making pretty solid progress. There are a few achievements that will have me fine pointing my techniques to unlock, but I feel that the last achievement I get will be the 10 hours of play achievement.

I also have Dance Paradise out as well. I haven't played much of it, but to be honest, I am not really enjoying it.

The only other important thing to note is that the Michael Jackson Experience game will be out next month and there is an achievement for it that may bother me. There seems to be an achievement for reaching a #1 score on a leaderboard. This may simply be for getting a #1 score in an in-game, local leaderboard. Also, it may have weekly leaderboards as well, which would simplify things. However, if there is only lifetime leaderboards, I will have the get the game on day 1 and make some serious score to have any hopes of netting the achievement.

I will update whenever I know more.

GAME COMPLETED #8: KINECT ADVENTURES

Kinect Adventures is the pack-in title that comes with Kinect Sensor. It does a great job introducing a bunch of the features one can expect to see when using the Kinect. With a handful of different activities and online multiplayer, the game offers something for everyone.

GAME: Kinect Adventures

REVIEW SCORE: 7/10

The game is, among other things, fun. The Kinect sensor works extremely well with this game, which one might expect as being the first (and sometimes only) game a Kinect game a Kinect owner will play.

The different play styles allow for different levels of activity. The least strenuous being the "20,000 leaks" activity where players use hands and feet to plug leaks in an underwater cage. The most active is the "Reflex Ridge" activity, where players are guided through a obstacle course that involves jumping, ducking, dodging and flailing.

Each activity has 6-9 stages to add to the depth of the game. Unfortunately, the levels will often times not differ much from stage to stage and makes the game a bit repetitive.

The game offers both online and offline multiplayer, almost all of which is cooperative.

One of the best features of the game is the interactive nature of the game. During each event, the game will take several photos of the player and caption it at the end of the match. Also, when playing 'Adventure' mode you unlock Living Statues, interactive trophies that you control with your Kinect sensor (with both movement and sound).

As an added bonus, the Kinect Adventures disc has a handful of demos for other Kinect titles.

FITNESS SCORE: 6/10

As mentioned above, the "Reflex Ridge' activity offers a lot of physical challenge. The rest of the events allow for you to be as active as you like, but isn't necessary to do well in the event.

For players who are not accustomed for physical activity, "20,000 leaks" and "Space Pop" (At least, I think that is the correct name of the activity) are great for using the Kinect sensor while not overexerting yourself.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

-The achievements for this game are awarded either for meeting the achievement requirement, or being signed in to the game while someone else meets the achievement requirement.

-When going for the achievement for activating all Living Statues, you have to keep in mind that there is one additional Living Statue that is not unlocked during gameplay. It is a statue of your avatar and can only be activated by viewing your Living Statue collection and scrolling to the left.

-When playing the "Reflex Ridge" activity, you should continuously be jumping in place during when able. This speeds up the platform and is essential for beating the clock in the timed mode and getting Platinum medals in the other modes.

GAME COMPLETED #7: DECA SPORTS FREEDOM

This is a sports compilation that includes 10 sports, as the name implies ( Deca is a prefix in the metric system, also a numerical prefix, denoting a factor of ten).

If the game looks familiar, it might be because it is a rework of a Wii title that came out a while back.

The game has some fun gameplay to its credit, but also seems to fall short in other areas.

Special thanks to bloodnutman and ScottRad1234 for helping me with the online achievements in this game.

GAME: Deca Sports Freedom

REVIEW SCORE: 5/10

The fact that the game offers 10 sports is a plus, as it allows for a wider variety. And, to be fair, some of the sports are actually pretty fun.

I seemed to experience a handful of sensor issues though that seemed to damper my appreciation for this game. For one, my in-game avatar will often be stuck in a sitting position (although I have no similar issues with any of my other Kinect titles). This makes hitting certain returns in Volleyball and Tennis near impossible in some instances.

Also, there is an issue of quantity over quality as far as some of the sports go. Whereas boxing and archery are fun and interesting to play. Sports like Kendo and Paintball are not. Kendo isn't really a bad event, it just doesn't work well in a Kinect compilation, and Paintball utilizes a first-person shooter setup that falls short of my expectations.

There is also some issues with Kinect being able to recognize players with this software. I played some co-op with my wife and we were constantly having issues. If we moved too far out of range and came back, the game would not always remember the player and would register one of us as "Guest". And at one point, the game mixed us up and we were playing under the other persons' gamertag.

This game is fun in small doses, and manageable when concentrating on playing your favorite events.

FITNESS SCORE: 5/10

Aside from Figure Skating and Mogul Skiing, you don't really get yourself in motion. Games like Tennis and Volleyball have your in-game avatar automatically move into position, you just have to swing your arms. Archery and Paintball read body movements, but are limited to turning your body certain directions. Kendo, Boxing, and Dodgeball have you stand in place and move your arms, and Snowboarding has you stand in place and lean.

Still, Mogul skiing is enough to work up a sweat, and Boxing is great for flailing around your arms.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

- If you enter the "Locker Room" from the main menu and yell "Hudson" (with the Kinect mic turned on), you will unlock an Avatar Item T-shirt.

- Achievements are not affected by option changes. You can feel free to play the game on the easiest settings and the minimal number of matches. (Unless the achievement specifies certain option criteria).

GAME COMPLETED #6: ADRENALINE MISFITS

This is a pretty fun game that is extremely easy to complete. It took about 4 hours or less for me to earn the complete 1000GS in this title. It has its ups and downs, but I would recommend a rental.

GAME: Adrenaline Misfits

REVIEW SCORE: 6/10

First and foremost, the game does a great job incorporating the Kinect sensor, which is always a huge plus. In addition, the game has several different game modes to enhance gameplay and replay value.

Second, the game is easy to learn, easy to play, and pretty fun.

The concept is fairly simple. You control a snowboarder who maneuvers, races, battles, and styles the way to first place. As you beat levels and earn high scores, you unlock new characters and new boards with increased stats.

Unfortunately, the game seems a bit too easy. Even using the most basic characters and boards, the enemy A.I poses little threat as long as you understand the basics of gameplay.

Also, the game seems to try to do a little too much. For instance, it has offensive and defensive weapons that you can pick up (in the spirit of games such as Mario Kart), but they rarely are of any use. In fact, some of the game modes (big air and trick modes) focus on individual actions. The enemies in this case are doing their own thing, and the weapon system becomes obsolete.

Also, many of the game modes (like those listed above) are won by reaching certain criteria (most air time, most balloons collected, most trick points, etc.), which is fine, but the game is still set up a like a race; except, you can cross the finish line 2 minutes after everyone else but still win first place.

I just kind of felt like the game would have been better suited if it concentrated on fewer play variants and just built around them.

But I was still overall impressed with the quality of motion controls and simple fun involved.

FITNESS SCORE: 4/10

The game doesn't involve to much moving around. Mostly standing in place while leaning one way or another.

There is however, some modes that require lots of tricks, which require lots of jumping. And since this is a Kinect title, lots of jumping means lots of jumping.

Even though it only took about 4 hours to finish the game, I had some fairly sore thighs the next day from leaning and jumping.

You will get some leg exercise as well as some ab work in, but nothing for the arms (aside from holding them straight out for some of the tricks, but it doesn't offer much of a workout).

TIPS AND TRICKS:

-When playing the game mode for getting the most air time (as well as getting the big air achievement), it is best to choose a rider who is of 'Jump Type'. In addition, whenever you hit a huge jump, hold your arms straight out to the sides. This will cause your rider to glide. This keeps you in the air longer, and allows you to make more air time.

- When playing the game mode for getting the balloons, you do not need to worry about beating the other racers to the bottom of the hill, just concentrate on hitting the balloons. Further more, you should concentrate on stringing together your balloons so you keep your combo going. This is key to getting an A rank.

-On the game mode for scoring trick points, you can ignore the track completely. Just keep jumping in the air and doing simple twist or flip tricks. By the time you reach the finish line, you should not only have enough points to make 1st place, but you should have enough to get an A ranking (and the achievement that is associated with it.)

PROGRESS UPDATE

The last couple of weeks have been pretty tough. My Kinect progress has pretty much come to a complete halt.

I am in the middle of two fitness games, both of which require loads of dedicated time and little gamerscore to show for it.

I am also having trouble finding time and bodies to help with multiplayer achievements, which is holding up not only my Kinect progress, but my Gamefly queue as well.

I am stuck with 900GS on Deca Sports, only missing the achievement for playing all 10 sports with another player. I was able to talk my wife into standing in. Unfortunately, even after meeting the requirements the achievement did not unlock. I think it has to do with a sensor issue where one of our profiles was registering as a "Guest" and not by our accounts. I would just try it again, but my wife isn't dedicated to the cause enough to go through it again. Luckily, I have been contacted by a gamer who needs the achievement as well. Hopefully by the next update, I will have this game complete.

I am having similar issues with Kinect Adventures, except I have no problem finding people to play with, I just have problems connecting with them over Live. We keep getting messages like "Game Session Has Ended" whenever we send each other invites (followed by an infinite load loop that requires me to restart my game). Hopefully I can get this resolved as well.

On the plus side, I just got Adrenaline Misfits in the mail from GameFly, and after about only 4 hours, I have 910/1000GS. The remaining 90 are local co-op achievements, but the short and easy variety. I should have it back out in the mail within the week.

GAME COMPLETED #5: KINECT SPORTS with DLC

This has been one of, if not the funnest games I have played so far for the Kinect. It also marks the first Kinect game that I have completed that offers downloadable content achievements. It was a great game but left me with two sprained ankles for over a week thanks to Track and Field. Here is the review:

GAME: Kinect Sports (with DLC)

REVIEW SCORE: 9/10

The most impressive aspect of this game was the accuracy in which the Kinect sensor was able to track my movements and motions. I have played other titles where my experience was quickly effected by poor sensor control. This is not to say that I had 0 problems throughout my playing, but it was a very fun and fulfilling ride.

The game has 5 different sports to choose from, as well as several mini-games that add new depth and challenge. The sports included in the title are Bowling, Track and Field, Boxing, Table Tennis, and  Volley Ball. I found that bowling was probably my favorite of the sports.

Aside from the superb play mechanics, I was also wowed by solid graphics and crisp audio. To add a little something special, the game has incorporated clips from famous songs such as "Just Dance", "We are the Champions", and "Hollaback Girl", as well has many others.

The DLC adds several new achievements totaling 250GS. The best part, the DLC is free! It adds new mini-game variants to the existing pool of games.

Personal note: I almost bowled a perfect game! I was only 1 pin short :(

FITNESS SCORE: 7/10

With so many game types, there is no shortage of exercise. Bowling, Table Tennis, and Boxing do a good job keeping your arms moving, while Track and Field will have you running like a maniac. Remember not to overdo it though. As mentioned above, I did sprain my ankles during Track and Field and had ankle pains for over a week. Be sure to stretch before and after strenuous activities, and be sure to stay hydrated and take breaks when needed.

I was sweating buckets while playing this game.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

-Rare did a great job with creating guides and videos to help us gamers earn the achievements. Check out their guides here.

-The DLC for the game is free of charge. You can download it here.

-For the Track and Field events that require running on the track (Sprint and Hurdles), you can increase your performance by achieving a boost start and boost finish. To get the boost start, get into a crouching position with one leg back (like a real runner). At the third heartbeat, stand up and start running. If you are a little early, you will be penalized with a false start, but you will get a do-over. For the boost finish, put your arms straight out behind you as you near the finish line. This will speed you up and the very end.

PROGRESS UPDATE

Well, things have slowed down a bit as I seem to have blown out my ankles playing Track and Field on Kinect Sports. No serious damage I imagine, but it has seriously slowed my progress. I am playing at about 50% of what I am used to.

Anyways, I purchased and started EA Sports Active. In retrospect, I kind of wish I purchased this game when it came out. There is a workout program achievement that takes 9 weeks (real time) to complete and some long distance running/biking achievements that are estimated to take about 70 hours. Definitely my biggest hurdle yet.

I am nearly done with Kinect Sports, but until my ankles heal, I am holding off on finishing it. In the mean time, it will be holding up my Gamefly queue.

I also started Deca Sports Freedom (via Gamefly) and have nearly finished it. I am just missing one hard achievement, one co-op achievement, and a couple of time consuming ones. If there weren't a few sensor issues associated with the game, it would have been a pretty good title.

I still need to get back to Dance Masters and finish getting all my secret ripples. I am hoping to not put it off for too long.

Speaking of putting off, I need to cowboy up and pull the wife in to finish Kinect Adventures. I just need to play each level with a 2nd person.

Other than that, I just need to peck away at Your Shape: Fitness Evolved. I don't think I will be getting much accomplished now that I have Sports Active 2 to fill my fitness niche. It should also be noted that the YourShapeCenter.com site still hasn't offered an event in the Events Section. Hopefully it won't create a permanent 5GS void in my completion conquest.

I was actually hoping to finish my Kinect games in such a fashion that I didn't have so many incomplete games going at once. I will try to wrap a couple of them up in the next week or two.

GAME COMPLETED #4: FIGHTERS UNCAGED

This game is proof that fighting games can work for the Kinect. The game is not that difficult to earn all 1000GS, but requires a decent amount of grinding. If you have the time and patience and an understanding of the game mechanics, this game is a fun and achievable 100%.

GAME: Fighters Uncaged

REVIEW SCORE: 6/10

Prior to playing this title, I took time to look up some of the online reviews. The reviews for this game seem to be bad to an undeserving level. I get the impression that players were expecting a full motion, 1:1, real time fighting experience. This is not what this game is about. Unlike fighting games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter that focus on fast paced fighting action, Fighters Uncaged works more along the lines of Punch-Out where the fighting focuses more on strategic blocks, dodges and counters. If you were start a match on Fighters Uncaged and flail your fists and feet around like a real street fight, you would most likely lose quickly. If you plan on seriously playing this title and enjoying it to its full potential, it is essential that you play through the tutorials and training sessions to get an idea of how the game works and how the moves are properly executed.

The Kinect sensor works extremely well for this title as long as you have the proper settings and play space. Unfortunately, this game loses a lot of respect due to horrendous character design and cringing dialogue. There also isn't really a lot of play features. There is no multiplayer, and you pretty much keep fighting the same opponents over and over again, attempting to increase your score.

You progress through the game by winning 'Crowns'. Crowns are awarded for beating opponents as quickly as you can while taking as little damage as possible. The better your scores, the more crowns you receive. Once you receive enough crowns, you move up to the next 'league'. Each league increases in difficulty, and offers new fighters to face. Eventually, you beat the game, so to speak, and enter the "Open League". At this point, you just fight opponents to earn as many crowns as you can, which reflect your leaderboard score.

I was happy to learn that I earned a spot on the top 10 in the worldwide leaderboards without even really trying. I could have improved my score, but after reaching 1000GS, I was happy to send it back to Gamefly.

FITNESS SCORE: 5/10

This game isn't really fast paced or strenuous, but seems to work parts of you body that aren't really offered in other Kinect titles. Whereas most Kinect titles focus on leg work, Fighters Uncaged focuses heavily on arms and abs. I didn't realize that Fighters worked my abs until I was sore the next day. The game requires you to lean back while your feet are planted firmly in order to dodge oncoming attacks. This motion acts like a reverse sit up, and really works your ab muscles.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

-There is no point in going out of your way for the 20 win achievements until you reach the Open League. The 20 wins and 20 Open League wins achievements stack, so you will save time by waiting.

-Pay attention to the tips section before each opponent. They will offer you strategies on beating the opponent in the quickest and most efficient way.

-There is an "Advice" section in the tutorials that explain how and when to do the Combos that are required for the combo achievements.

-The best way to ensure that combos will work is to completely deplete the opponent's Zen gauge (the meter on the right side of the screen). If their gauge is empty, they will more likely fall victim to combos. You can deplete this bar by dodging and countering. Also, Super Strikes do a great deal to deplete it. Specifically, use the low hook Super Strike to take out half of the opponent's Zen gauge.
